It hurts mommy!

OK...we did have a great weekend...but yesterday after church my precious little man decided to meet the pavement...OUCH! He hit pretty hard, and it was hot asphalt right after church. It swelled up really quick and he just kept saying 'it hurts mommy'. Here are a few shots of the bonk...it is hard to see, but it is a big shiner right on his little head.

My precious baby...his ouchy...hurts!

Update

I just wanted to update everyone about my 'fat content'...many of you know that I have been trying to lose weight and this month has been rough. We have not been working out and we have taken several trips in which I did not eat properly. So I was a bit worried when I had to weigh in today...but I have to admit I am proud of myself. The results:

My good cholesterol is up, my bad cholesterol is down! Yea...when I first started my good cholesterol was low and my bad was a bit high. So that is an improvement.

I have lost 24 pounds since Jan...and have dropped 2 full sizes! Yeah!!!

My arthritis is doing much better...I do not cringe when I put my feet on the floor first thing in the mornings from the swelling and pain. And I can bend up and down without falling or screaming. I can also sit on the floor with my kids for longer periods and when I stand up (although sometimes tight) my hips will still move and I can walk. So...those of you that know about my problems...I really am doing better...and I think it has a lot to do with my weight. OK...so my hands, shoulders, and neck are still a problem...but what can I expect with the things I do...but I am feeling better.

So here is the negative...I am not being strict enough on my diet...I am allowing myself too many treats and that is disappointing because my goal weight still seems far away. Although my doctor keeps assuring me that it is not necessarily what the scale says but more of the size of clothes, the inches, the blood work, and how I feel. Still...I am going to buckle down and get a bit more serious this month. I want to be at my goal weight for Christmas...so just say a little prayer for me and any words of encouragement would be great at this time.

I will keep you posted...H, you know my mom is going to take me shopping when I hit that goal!

I have been reading!

Ok...I know...it has been a while. But let me explain...I may have mentioned...or maybe not...that I took on a new position because I felt that I 'had the time'...HA. Anyway...I have spent every moment I could reading and researching...teaching and grading...mothering and cleaning...wife-ing and wi-fying (that may be hard for a few of you)...gardening and cooking...training and stressing. So, I really have been doing something.

I know many of you think that I have forgotten about my huge reading list...I have not...but I had to put the fun books on hold and read the even more fun invert book...yes that was 586 pages and not only did I read it...but I have studied it...so that should count for 2 books right? Anyway, I did manage to fit a few in for the kids and one for me that was rather odd. So I have updated my reading list...check it out and I could use the encouragement!

I think I mentioned that I had to purchase a new 'off-brand' computer...so I have also spent hours transferring data, learning my new operating system (yuck) and even more time in trying to figure out how to use word 07...and I tell you...I am about to chunk it out the window.

Anyway...I love my new computer and have enjoyed not having to sit directly in front of a fan hoping that my computer will not shut down on me before I finish my work. I have also spent numerous hours trying to research information for the new class I am helping develop for the university...so since I can't find my camera cord to show you the cute photos of my kiddos...I am showing you some creepy images of my new friends I am really getting to know! Enjoy...and in the mean time I am looking for the camera cord!

What was that?

Ok...it finally happened...the power button on my trusty gateway broke. So the purchase of a new computer came a bit earlier than I had expected. As a matter of fact...I 'wasted' a whole day driving to a town to get my fancy new friend! So as I am working in the computer and I am trying to download school stuff, normally I click on something and can look away or deal with my kids and look back to my laptop just in time to see something loading. Well...NO MORE. I hit a button, looked over to Big Girl and my laptop did something crazy...What was that? Yep...you guessed it...I think it can tell the future because my page seemed to be up before my finger left the button and my head was only slightly turned. WOW!

So I guess I am bragging a bit...I will quit. Most of you know that I spend a lot of time on the computer and this one seems to be really cool. I did have an ordeal getting a different brand...most of you might NOT know that I am a brand person. You know...the OCD thing that means it has to be a certain brand cheese, only Honda and Toyota for me, can't be a no-name coke...and yes...I am a gateway computer girl. Always had them, love them, and couldn't get over the fact that I was about to purchase one that was not a gateway. But I did...and so far (after about 2 hours on the new one) I seem to be happy. Thanks to H for getting me past the hump of buying an 'off' brand. H thinks I was kidding when I told her that I could put something on top of the 'off' brand name and label it a gateway myself. It even has some pretty circle things on the outside...so I guess it was designed for me.

OK...now that I have told you my bad news (broken computer), and my good news (new 'off' brand computer), I better tell you my exciting news since I am online. HARRY POTTER tomorrow night!!!! Long wait since it started at midnight Tuesday night...and the freak I am (along with my bff H and A) wanted to replay the midnight release of the final HP book and go to the midnight showing...dressed up of course. That didn't happen...instead we are meeting some great friends, eating dinner, and then all going to see HP...I can't wait!

OK...I will end now...I really should be working...but this computer is so fast I have 3 classes open right now, plus my blog, and fb. So this was definitely made for a mom...multi-tasking pro!

Later...

New job for my spare time!

Hello all...sorry I did not post last week...I was out of town, out in the garden, and canning like crazy. Yes, I am canning...can you believe it. Just today I canned tomatoes, I made pickles, and salsa. I think I put up about 48 jars today. And I STILL have 3 huge bowls of tomatoes! So guess what is on the list for tomorrow...

Anyway, I reluctantly accepted a 'new job'...I have been asked to work on a team of 3 to develop a new class for the college I teach for. I am excited and I think it is a great opportunity...but it will be hard work. So, if I seem a bit spacey...then you can understand that I am just preoccupied.

The kids and I are headed out on Tuesday to go visit some friends and grandparents...and guess what...Harry Potter Starts! Of course we have plans...but not sure I will make it (not appropriate for my crew).

Other than teaching, gardening, cleaning, taking a new job, and dealing with the 'mom' stuff...things have been pretty much the same. We did have a great trip for July 4th weekend...and Big girl had spent the week with Nana and Pawpaw. Of course they both want to go back...but they get so spoiled. I am thinking that I may take their place and let Nana and Pawpaw take care of me!

Ok...I am going to try to sleep now...must wake up early and start the canning process all over again!

Are you SERIOUS?

Hello everyone...it is time for me to update. I know...over time...but I am trying to juggle a lot of stuff...so bear with me.

Ok...so our phrase has to be explained...that way if you ever hear our kiddos say it...you will know what they are saying and understand where it comes from. So I will try to give you a few examples and help you understand why the words 'Are you Serious' are so commonly said in 'our world'.

I will just start with Saturday. You just have to understand. First I convinced daddy to spend a day in town (45 minutes from home) with me and the kids...fun right! So we had our plans...take the new truck and drop it off to be thoroughly checked out, go run errands, get daddy's gift, have a DVD player installed...so many things. But WE HAD A PLAN. So we wake early, get all the kids ready and head to town. We arrive at the dealership and can't get through the huge locked gate. Maybe they don't open until 10? So daddy jumps out to check on it...'Are you serious?' The place is closed on Saturday...can you believe it? Me either.

Ok...no problem...let's head to Best Buy...so we all 5 go in and look at DVD players...$$$$'Are you serious?' We can get one at WM for much less...but will they still install it...yes for more $$$. So we head to WM...'Are you serious?' they do not have them at this WM...so we call another one...not there either. OMG...Are you serious?...we are starting to get frustrated.

OK...Let's go get daddy's gift (meanwhile the kids are wanting to go home already) at Michael's. He has a poster that he has wanted to frame...Michael's had custom framing for 60% off...so I take it in and get the order. I come back to the car and say...wow...that was still expensive and I ask daddy what he thought it might cost...he replied with $50...My response...'Are you serious?'...no much more. When I informed him it was $200...his reply (you see where I am going) was 'Are you serious?'...so I went back in, picked up the poster, and canceled the order. Well...Happy Father's Day.

OK...so my errands are not going to well...we take daddy back to Best Buy so he can go ahead and purchase the more expensive DVD player and set up a time when they can install it. Well...nothing is ever simple...once he was there, the store clerk kept adding things we would need for it to work properly 'Are you serious'...$800...forget it. So plans are really not going well. While daddy was playing at the store I had to take 3 kids into a quilt store to find fabric...FUN. So while we were there Big girl comes running out with the other 2 following and in a LOUD voice says...Little Man has POOP in his pants...it stinks...and my response 'Are you serious?' Right now? Can you talk any louder? OMG...what a day.

So finally daddy meets me at the quilt store, no DVD, no Father's Day gift, nothing working out quite right. So he decides just to go home...but he offers to take the kiddos and let me finish shopping! YEAH!

So the rest of the day went fine...and Sunday morning we woke up and started getting ready to head out for our Father's Day get together...and I inform daddy that I really need to discuss some things with him. Most of them didn't get a huge reaction...yeah...whatever...ok...but one discussion got the normal response (you know what I mean). I inform him that if I am going to keep our 'monster' dog...then he and I will be attending behaviour training classes...'Are you serious?'...how much does that cost?

So we finally got to the river and unloaded...and had a blast...Little man loved throwing rocks in the water. But he is not a great aim...he threw a small rock and hit his cousin in the back 'Are you serious?'...please take better aim. And you guessed it...the next rock (much bigger) smacked me right on the back of the head...'ARE YOU SERIOUS?'...that hurt. So let's stop rock throwing.

Anyway...we had a blast...then it was time to go...I said to my sweet girl...time to go...and you guessed it...the reply...'are you serious?' So the day went GREAT...we had so much fun with friends and family. We can't wait to do it again. I put a few pictures at the bottom.

So just a bit more information...we did find a DVD...so again we all went to town tonight. Including our monster dog because we started class tonight. I did have to put him in the shopping cart because he will not walk on a leash, he did great in class, the kids got to eat pizza, and we have a DVD in daddy's new truck.

I guess you could say we have had very eventful few days...and now you understand why our kids will say 'are you serious'. It is so cute when sweet girl says it. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
